The Kolkata Thunderbolts, based in Kolkata, West Bengal, have established themselves as one of the most consistent and successful franchises in Prime Volleyball League (PVL) history. Their outstanding track record includes winning the inaugural PVL tournament in 2022. They were spectacular in the previous season, leading the group stage standings and winning a position in the playoffs, where they reached the semi-finals.
The team’s leadership remains unchanged, with Ashwal Rai serving as captain and giving stability and skills on the court. However, significant changes in the coaching staff have occurred. The Kolkata Thunderbolts have hired Iranian mastermind Rahman Mohammadirad as head coach, bringing a wealth of experience. Davoud Moghbeli, who joins as an assistant coach, will support him in his coaching job.
