Like the men’s team, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Women’s Team has a large loyal fan base in the Women’s Premier League (WPL). However, during their first season in the league, they struggled to perform up to expectations, as they finished fourth and did not advance to the playoff rounds.
The RCB management made proactive decisions to strengthen the squad to present a more substantial challenge and secure their status among the league’s top in the upcoming WPL season.
RCB made deliberate decisions on player retention to ensure stability and consistency. They retained key players like Smriti Mandhana, Ellyse Perry, Heather Knight, Sophie Devine, and others.
RCB also released seven players from the squad ahead of the WPL 2024 auction to add freshness and maybe accommodate new talents.
