Injury Woes: Australia’s Josh Hazlewood Ruled Out of WTC Final Against India

Australia has had a major setback ahead of the ICC World Test Championship Final 2023 against India. Star pacer Josh Hazlewood has been ruled out of the highly anticipated match due to an Achilles niggle that has troubled him since February. Despite efforts to recover in time, Hazlewood has been unable to overcome a side strain he sustained during his IPL stint in India.

In Hazlewood’s unfortunate absence, the Australian team has called upon Michael Neser as his replacement in the WTC Final squad. Neser, who has been showcasing exceptional form playing for Glamorgan in the County Championship, has impressed with his recent performances. With 14 wickets in his last three games, including a remarkable 7/32 against Yorkshire, Neser has proven his bowling prowess.

While Neser steps up to fill the void left by Hazlewood, the focus now shifts to providing ample time for Hazlewood’s recovery and preparation for the upcoming Ashes series in England. The pace bowler is expected to be fully fit and available for the highly anticipated clash against England in the Ashes.

Pat Cummins (C), Steven Smith (VC), Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Marcus Harris, Michael Neser, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Todd Murphy, Mitchell Starc, David Warner.
