After Jasprit Bumrah, Another Star Player Set To Miss IPL 2023 For Mumbai Indians

Jhye Richardson, the Australian fast bowler, has been ruled out of Australia’s ODI series against India. His participation in IPL 2023 for Mumbai Indians is also in doubt after he re-injured his hamstring during his first-grade match after months of recovery. He had been out of action since straining his hamstring on January 4, and although the injury was initially not considered severe, it took him two months to make a comeback.

Unfortunately, he missed out on the Perth Scorchers’ title-winning campaign and did not feature in the Marsh Cup or Sheffield Shield cricket either. However, he was named in Australia’s 16-man ODI squad for the three-match series against India, which starts on March 17 in Mumbai. Nathan Ellis has been called up as a replacement for the injured pacer.

Mumbai Indians had acquired Jhye Richardson for INR 1.5 crore, but now, he is the second pacer, after Jasprit Bumrah, who cannot play in IPL 2023. This injury is yet another setback for Mumbai Indians, who will now have to find a way to fill the void left by the two fast bowlers.
