The highly-anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy 3rd Test match started at the Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indoor. India won the toss and decided to bat, but their batting collapsed. India was all out in the first innings for 109 runs in 33.2 overs. However, In the first over of the match, the Australian team made a series of blunders.
In India’s first over, opener Rohit Sharma tried to defend the first delivery bowled by Mitchell Starc. However, the ball took the edge of his bat and went straight into the hands of the wicket-keeper, Alex Carey. The Australian players immediately appealed for a catch, but the on-field umpire Nithin Menon was given not-out.
Surprisingly, despite having the option to review the umpire’s decision, the Australian team doesn’t take the review. Later replays confirmed that the ball had touched the bat before being caught by the keeper.
