The 132nd edition of the prestigious Durand Cup will kick off on the 3rd of August, 2023. This historic tournament is the oldest existing club football competition in Asia. The Durand Cup has a rich history dating back to 1888 when it was first held, making it the third oldest existing national football competition in the world, after the English FA Cup and Scottish FA Cup.
In the 2023 edition, a total of 24 teams will take part in the Durand Cup, representing various leagues and armed forces. The 24 teams include 12 teams from the Indian Super League, five teams from the I-League, three teams from the Indian Armed Forces, two teams from Foreign Armed Forces, 1 team from the I-League 2, and 1 team from the Regional League. The participating teams are categorized into six groups, namely Groups A to F. Each group will witness intense battles, with teams playing in a round-robin format, competing for a spot in the knockout stage.
