The Mumbai Indians, one of the most successful teams in IPL history, is now gearing up to compete in the Women’s Premier League. Indiawin Sports Private Limited (a subsidiary of Reliance Industries) acquired Mumbai Indians Women’s team for Rs 912.99 crore in WPL team bidding. Mumbai Indians Women’s team represents Mumbai City. The inaugural season of the WPL 2023 begins with a match between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Giants.
Mumbai Indians spent Rs 12 crore in the WPL auction to acquire 17 players, including 11 Indians and six foreign players. The most important is Mumbai Indians’ acquisition of Harmanpreet Kaur, the current Indian women’s team captain, in the WPL auction. In addition, Mumbai Indians secured key players Nat Sciver Brunt, Pooja Vastrakar, Amelia Kerr, and Yastika Bhatia for the WPL 2023 season.
