India’s batting lineup is set to face a setback in the upcoming Test series against South Africa as Ruturaj Gaikwad, the promising opener, has been ruled out due to injury. Abhimanyu Easwaran has been named as his replacement.

Gaikwad suffered a major injury to his right ring finger while fielding in the second One-Day International against South Africa in Gqeberha. The BCCI Medical Team made the critical decision to sideline Gaikwad for the balance of the tour after quick scans and consultation with experts. Due to Gaikwad’s finger injury, the BCCI has asked him to report to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for complete care and treatment.

In Gaikwad’s place, Abhimanyu Easwaran steps in as the replacement, poised to fill the crucial opener’s role in the upcoming Test series. Easwaran’s inclusion presents an opportunity for the young talent to showcase his prowess on the international stage.
