The ongoing India-South Africa Test series witnessed an action-packed second match at the Newlands Stadium in Cape Town, marked by dramatic wickets and a touching moment of sportsmanship led by former Indian captain Virat Kohli.
The match had its emotional highlights as South African stand-in skipper Dean Elgar, in his final Test appearance, fell victim to Indian pacer Mukesh Kumar. Kohli’s instant response following his dismissal, on the other hand, stole the show. He signalled the crowd not to celebrate, demonstrating respect and empathy for Elgar’s farewell.
Kohli’s gesture was more than just an acknowledgement. He bowed to Elgar and hugged him as the South African went off the field for the final time in his Test career, capturing the spirit of cricket’s solidarity and mutual respect.
