The reigning world champions Argentina are gearing up for crucial World Cup 2026 qualifiers against Uruguay and Brazil. National team coach Lionel Scaloni has unveiled a challenging 28-man squad for these high-stakes encounters. Among the notable inclusions are the dynamic duo of Paulo Dybala and Giovanni Lo Celso, adding significant firepower to the Argentine lineup.
The upcoming matches are important as they mark the first of the two World Cup qualifiers in November. On November 16, Argentina will lock horns with Uruguay, followed by a clash against Brazil on November 21.
Lionel Scaloni’s squad announcement also introduced fresh faces to the national team setup. Pablo Maffeo and Olympiakos’ Francisco Ortega are set to make their debut appearances.
However, some familiar names are missing from the squad. Manchester United’s Garnacho and Atlanta United’s Thiago Almada won’t be part of the action this time. The omission of these players raises questions and adds an element of surprise to Argentina’s tactical choices.
