Pakistan’s left-arm pacer, Wahab Riaz, has retired from his brilliant international cricket career. After 15 years of leaving his mark on international cricket, the 38-year-old has chosen to step away from international cricket while remaining an active force in franchise cricket.
Wahab Riaz’s journey in international cricket began on February 2, 2008, when he debuted for Pakistan against Zimbabwe at Sheikhupura. His last international match was a T20 against New Zealand in Hamilton on December 20, 2020.
During his illustrious career, Wahab Riaz represented Pakistan in 154 matches, including 27 Tests, 91 ODIs, and 36 T20Is. Across these formats, his fiery pace and ability to swing the ball earned him a remarkable 237 wickets for Pakistan.
Wahab Riaz shared the news of his retirement directly, as he took to his official Twitter account to express his decision. He said, “Stepping off the international pitch, After an incredible journey, I’ve decided to retire from international cricket. Big thank you to PCB, my family, coaches, mentors, teammates, fans, and everyone who supported me. Exciting times ahead in the world of franchise cricket!”

His cricketing journey traversed multiple teams, including Pakistan, Barbados Royals, Brampton Wolve, Cape Town Blitz, Colombo Strikers, Comilla Victorians, Derbyshire, Dhaka Dynamites, Essex, Galle Gladiators, Jaffna Kings, Kandy Falcons, Karachi Kings, Kent, Khulna Tigers, Lahore Lions, Peshawar Zalmi, Rangpur Riders, St Lucia Kings, Surrey, Trent Rockets.
