England’s hard-hitting opening batter, Alex Hales, has announced his retirement from international cricket at the age of 34. The T20 World Cup winner has decided to shift his focus towards a career in franchise leagues, bidding farewell to international cricket. The announcement was made through his official Instagram account, where he expressed gratitude for his journey in representing his country.
Hales, whose explosive batting style has earned him a reputation as a power-hitter, shared his sentiments in a retirement statement. “It has been an absolute privilege to have represented my country on 156 occasions across all three formats. I’ve made some memories and some friendships to last a lifetime and I feel that now is the right time to move on,” he stated.

The impactful batter’s final appearance for England was in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, where his contributions played a crucial role in securing the T20 World Cup title for the English side. During the tournament, he showcased his prowess by amassing an impressive 212 runs in just six matches, leaving an indelible mark on the world stage.
Throughout his international career, He represented his country in 11 Test matches, 70 ODIs, and 75 T20Is, leaving an imprint on each with his explosive performances. Beyond the international arena, Hales also had a brief stint in the IPL, participating in six matches.
