Due to injury, Beth Mooney, the captain of Gujarat Giants, will no longer be playing in the Women’s Premier League. She missed the last match and has been ruled out of the remainder of the tournament.
However, the team found a replacement as, Laura Wolvaardt from South Africa, the top run-scorer in the recent ICC T20 World Cup. With a total of 230 runs from 6 matches in the World Cup, Laura Wolvaardt is expected to boost the team’s batting lineup.
She had withdrawn from Pakistan’s Women’s Exhibition League to join Gujarat Giants for the WPL. In the absence of Mooney, Snay Rana will lead the team for the rest of the tournament. This is a significant blow for the Gujarat Giants, but they hope Volward’s inclusion will help them continue their winning momentum.
